Bombers Fall To Union In Overtime

Goalie Ben Connery made 11 saves for the Bombers

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The visiting Union Dutchmen (8-2) scored in the first overtime to upset #6 Ithaca (10-2) 10-9 Wednesday.

Senior Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/St. George Island, Fla.) led the Bombers with five points, including four goals. Classmate Matt Nelligan (Pingree School/Rowley, Mass.) and sophomore Nic Heckman (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) each tallied a goal and two assists. Junior Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.), and seniors Craig Lepiane (West Irondequoit/Rochester) and Logan Bobzien (Arapahoe/Centennial, Colo.) also recorded goals for Ithaca.

Siefert started the scoring for the Bombers with a goal at 11:45 of the first quarter. Bobzien added a man-up goal from Nelligan less than a minute later to put Ithaca up 2-0. Union scored three straight in the second half to tie the game at 5-5 before Lepiane scored with 30 seconds remaining in the first half. The Dutchmen started the second half with three straight goals. Bush tallied the next two goals for Ithaca, including a man-up tally to tie the game at eight. Heckman scored at 1:11 of the fourth to send the game into overtime. Union scored a man-up goal 1:19 into overtime for the win.

The Bombers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Hartwick for an Empire 8 game at 1 p.m.
